The Next Stage of The Value of Nothing

Posted by in The Value of Nothing

We are very excited that we have secured funding for the next stage of our new play, The Value of Nothing.

Arts Council England, Lime (Arts & Health) and Edge Hill University have all agreed to fund the next stage, with The Octagon Theatre in Bolton supporting us with space and time.

For this stage we are hoping to bring together a cast to look at the play and develop it a little further and then to hold a couple of scratch performances in January 2016. If these are successful, we are then hoping to move towards touring the show in autumn 2016 – very exciting for us!

The play will explore what it means to be poor and on welfare in the UK today and how schemes that are launched to help those looking for work can actually benefit young people, young men specifically.

The development process can really help a piece of theatre because you can see clearly what can and can’t work, so it is fantastic, and a real luxury, to be able to spend this time workshopping and exploring the piece.
